If you are an art lover and have plans to travel to Taipei between October 31-November 3, you will be at the right place at the right time. One of Asia's largest art fairs, Art Taipei, will take place at the Taipei World Trade Centre on October 31.
With the aim of "creating an image of cultural conjuncture" of Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, the four-day event will feature 145 galleries – 78 of which are from foreign countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, the Philippines, Singapore, Israel, Germany, the UK and the US.
Highlights will include exhibitions by Ota Fine Arts from Japan showcasing the works of Yayoi Kusama; 313 Art Project which has been rapidly gaining a reputation in Korea since 2010, and Yavuz Gallery from Singapore specialising in contemporary art. In particular, guests should pay special attention to the abstract paintings by Zao Wou-ki, a renowned Chinese artist who lived in France, as well as Strip 926 by Garhard Richter – recognised as a pioneer of German contemporary art.
Works by the old greats will be on display too, with the fair featuring art pieces from masters such as Picasso, Dali, Chagall, Sanyu or Ai Wei-wei and Liu Kuo-sung.
