China Eastern has increased the frequency of its Shanghai-Kunming-Dubai route from two to three times a week.
The service is currently operated with a 300-seat A330-300 consisting of two classes, however an A330-200 will take over the service starting from October 26 with a capacity reduction of 66 seats per flight.The new configuration will offer 30 business seats in a 2-2-2 arrangement and 204 economy seats configured 2-4-2.
The service departs Shanghai Pudong International airport every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 1150, arriving in Kunming Changshui International airport at 1510, before taking off again at 1610 and reaching Dubai International airport at 1900. The return leg leaves at 2030, arriving in Kunming at 0700, leaving again at 0855 and landing in Shanghai at 1150.
In addition to increasing the frequency, the carrier will add direct services from Shanghai to Dubai twice a week starting from October 26. An A330-200 will also be used on the route.
The flight will depart Shanghai on Wednesday and Sunday at 1400 and arrive in Dubai at 1915. The return leg will leave at 2045 and land in China at 0920.
According to the airline’s semi-annual report 2014, long-haul performance is doing well and growing. A comparison of June 2014 with the same period last year showed that passengers taking international flights had increased by 3.73 per cent from 4.3 to 4.5 million. Load factors also increased from 79.38 to 79.55 per cent.
The carrier has consequently decided to strengthen international networks, particularly in Japan, South Korea and North America.
