China Airlines to temporarily deploy B777 on short-haul routes

19 May 2014 by Clement Huang

China Airlines has detailed its operational schedule for the Boeing 777-300ER.

As previously reported by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific (see here), the carrier intends to deploy the B777 on its Taipei Taoyuan–Los Angeles route from December 2014 onwards.

However, upon taking delivery of the aircraft in September, the airline will first deploy it on several short-haul services until November 30 inclusive.

The B777 will begin servicing the carrier’s flights to Bangkok and Hong Kong from October 1, and those to Ho Chi Minh City from November 1.

It is a common practice for airlines to initially deploy new aircraft types on short-haul routes to facilitate crew familiarisation.
