Plaza Premium Lounge Management Limited (PPLML) has partnered with Abu Dhabi Airports for the renovation, management and operation of Abu Dhabi International Airport’s hotel and lounges in Terminal 1 and 2.
The three new renovated lounges will provide passengers with a broad range of services including showers, free wifi, workstations, meeting facilities, private VIP rooms, and a live kitchen. All lounges will be oxidised – meaning that oxygen will be pumped into the facilities to help relax passengers.
While no details have been confirmed regarding which lounges will be renovated, the only lounges in the specified terminals that offer a pay-in concept are the Al Reem lounge (US$45) and Al Dhabi lounge (US$56) in Terminal 1, and Al Ghazal lounge (US$28) in Terminal 2. The only other lounge is the Etihad Diamond first class lounge, which is available by invitation only.
Due to Abu Dhabi International Airport’s role as a transit hub for other destinations, the new lounges will also feature customer service representatives that assist passengers in connecting onto other flights.
In addition, PPLML have also been tasked with the redesign of the seating and room capacity of the airport lounges, and the hotel in Terminal 1 to accommodate the continuous increase in passenger traffic.
“With the anticipated traffic of 20 million passengers annually by 2017, it is the right time to establish this partnership in order to ensure that our facilities are best equipped and managed to provide the services travelers both expect and need,” said Mohammed Al Bulooki, chief commercial officer at Abu Dhabi Airports.
