Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced plans to open five new hotels across Germany.
The first property under the agreement with German hotel management company Bierwirth and Kluth will be the 297-room Holiday Inn Hamburg – City Nord, located within Hamburg’s City Nord business park close to the city’s airport.
The hotel is set to open in the third quarter of 2016, and will be followed by four more properties under one or more of IHG’s Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands.
The group plans to double its hotel portfolio across Germany by 2020, with 61 properties currently open and 16 in the pipeline.
Last month IHG announced plans to open four new properties in the UK – three Holiday Inn hotels (see news September 27), and a new Crowne Plaza property in London overlooking the River Thames (see news September 25).
