China Eastern offers city check-in in Seoul

2 Sep 2013

China Eastern has become the first Chinese airline to offer in-town check-in at CALT, a "city airport" in Samseong-dong, downtown Seoul.

The service allows passengers booked for flights departing from both Incheon and Gimpo airports to check their luggage at this facility that is easily accessible by taxi or subway (Samseong Station, Line 2). The China Eastern counters are located on the first floor. There is also departure immigration counters located at second floor. The service is available from 0630 to 1830.

Having successfully finished all the procedures, passengers can buy tickets and take the limousine bus headed for the airport. China Eastern's passengers flying to China can get complimentary tickets. The operating hours for buses to Incheon are from 0520 to 2000, while for Gimpo they are 0530 to 2000. The 28-seat buses leave for the two airports every 15 to 20 minutes. This bus service is also available for customers who do not use the city check-in, but for a 15,000 won (US$13.5) fee for Incheon and 7,000 won (US$6.3) fee for Gimpo. Tickets are available for purchase on the second floor.

When arrived at the airport, passengers will be directed to the designated entrance, which is usually reserved for diplomats and flight crews, to head for boarding.

The terminal is open from 0510 to 1830 daily. Passengers travelling to Incheon should arrive at the city terminal three hours before boarding, while those to Gimpo should allow at least two hours and ten minutes.

The CALT facility opened in 1990. Passengers for Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airlines, Air Canada, Philippine Airlines and MIAT Mongolian Airlines can also use this city check-in service. There are also convention centre, offices and shopping mall in the same building.
