Hong Kong-based serviced apartment and hotel group, Ovolo, has announced that it will launch a new property in Aberdeen, a southern district on Hong Kong Island. Opening this August, Ovolo 100 Shek Pai Wan (Ovolo 100 SPW) will feature 85 guestrooms that showcase modern furnishings and amenities. Along with that, over half of the rooms will offer view of the sea.
In terms of facilities and amenities, the hotel will feature a 24-hour gym and Lo Lounge, along with free self-laundry services. The opening will also mark the launch of Ovolo’s new citywide wifi hotspot service, which provides guests free access to over 8,500 HKBN hotspots across Hong Kong. After checking in, guests will be provided with a code which can inputted into their smartphones to gain access to the service. Wifi hotspots include almost all McDonald's and Starbucks outlets, many shopping malls and can even be found in more remote areas such as Sai Kung, Tai Wo and Yuen Long.
The guestrooms are divided into five categories, and they feature elegant bathrooms with stainless steel and marble finishes.
Six of the rooms come fitted with an additional bunk bed fixed to the wall, accessible through by a steel ladder. For larger families, ten pairs of rooms can be interconnected, and four corner sea view suites with extended living room areas grace the top floors of the hotel.
Ovolo has been rapidly expanding its portfolio, including its first international property in Melbourne, Australia opened last year (see here). The group will also welcome the launch of a new operation in Wong Chuk Hang later this year, which will feature 162 rooms, a trendy rooftop bar and an international restaurant. Also located in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, Wong Chuk Hang was once an industrial area, but as factories have moved across the border for lower wages, many of the buildings have been converted into office blocks and even rebuilt as hotels.
