SIA, Silk Air and Shenzhen Airlines enter codeshare deal

20 May 2013

Singapore Airlines (SIA), along with its regional subsidiary Silk Air, has entered into a codeshare agreement with Shenzhen Airlines, effective immediately.

Under the deal, SIA and Silk Air will add their codes (SQ and MI respectively) to the Shenzhen Airlines-operated daily flight between Shenzhen and Singapore. Shenzhen Airlines departs daily from BaoAn International Airport at 2230, arriving at Changi Airport at 0210, and the return leg departs at 0815 for an 1155 arrival.

Since the codeshare agreement is reciprocal, Shenzhen Airlines will also place its ZH code on the daily Silk Air-operated flight on the same route. Therefore, as a result of this deal, passengers of all three carriers will have a choice of two daily flights between the two cities. Silk Air has a varying timetable for this route on different days of the week. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the carrier departs Singapore at 0700, arriving in Shenzhen at 1050, and the return leg departs at 1150, touching down in the Lion City at 1545 (on Wednesdays, the flight arrives at 1535). On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the flight departs at 1220 and arrives at 1625, while the return leg takes off at 1715 to touch down at 2110.

Shenzhen Airlines recently joined the global Star Alliance (see story here) and therefore the three carriers already have a frequent flyer programme tie-up allowing Pheonix Miles or Kris Flyer members to accrue miles on these flights.
