Marriott International's Autograph Collection has added a third hotel to its UK portfolio after acquiring St Ermin's in London.
The 331-room property, which is housed in a Grade II Listed Victorian building close to St James’s Park station, recently underwent a £30 million revamp and relaunched as a four-star deluxe hotel last year.
It now joins the Autograph Collection, less than a month after Threadneedles in London and The Glasshouse in Edinburgh were inaugurated (see online news, April 2013).
Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time for the Autograph Collection, and a significant event for us in a prime, central London location.
"Our three Autograph Collection hotels in the United Kingdom offer travellers an enviable range of artistic, culinary and cultural adventures and this historic hotel is a hugely powerful addition."
Following its refurbishment, St Ermin's opened in April 2012 under Accor's MGallery brand, before now being taken over by Marriott.
A spokesperson for Accor said: "Currently Accor operates 25 per cent of its hotels under franchise contracts and from time to time these contracts do come to an end – that is part of our normal day to day business."
St Ermin's is located within a short walk of Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and numerous other central London landmarks and attractions.
The hotel enjoys an illustrious history - it served as the headquarters of the British Secret Service during the Second World War, and given its proximity to the Houses of Parliament, has been a popular political meeting venue for many years.
Business Traveller is currently offering the chance to win a weekend break at St Ermin’s. To read a review of the hotel, click here.
The hotel itself, meanwhile, is offering an exclusive package for a limited time. From May 15 until August 7, there is a 20 per cent discount off published rates for a three-night weekend stay (Thursday through Sunday) including breakfast, 2,000 Marriott Rewards Bonus Points, a £40 food and drink credit and room taxes.
