Starwood Hotels and Resorts has officially opened the 215-room Westin Chennai Velachery hotel, the brand’s sixth property in India and the first of seven new Westin hotels expected to open in 2013 across Asia-Pacific (see online news January 30).
The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Chennai international airport, and is near to the Guindy business district.
There are 215 guestrooms and suites with either pool or city views. Each is fitted with a 42-inch LCD television and wifi access, charged at 600 rupees per day (£7).
There is a Westin Executive Club located on the top floor, offering panoramic views of the city with complimentary breakfast, wifi, and evening cocktail service.
Leisure facilities include a 24-hour access gym, outdoor swimming pool, Heavenly spa and a group running programme called Run Westin.
The hotel has three restaurants - the all-day dining Seasonal Tastes, Pan Asia EESTTM and the Poolside Grill and Barbeque - and the cricket themed lounge bar Willows.
There is more than 1,170 sq m of meeting space, including two pillarless ballrooms and 12 break-out rooms. There is also a business centre.
