Thomson Airways is giving customers the chance to name its first Dreamliner aircraft, with the winner also getting to fly on one of the carrier’s first B787 services.
The airline is running the #nameourplane competition through its Twitter page, and is promoting it with the hashtag emblazoned on one of its B737 aircraft.
Entrants have until September 30 to choose a name, and tweet it along with the #nameourplane hashtag and their reasoning.
Thomson says that tweets which include original twitpics of the tagged plane “will be given special consideration”.
A panel of judges including Thomson’s MD Chris Browne will then choose a winner from a selection of the top ten entries.
The winning entrant will see their chosen name painted on the side of the carrier’s first Boeing Dreamliner, and will also get the chance to travel on “one of the plane’s first flights”.
Earlier this year Thomson Airways announced the first flights which will feature its Dreamliner aircraft (see online news April 18), including services from Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow to Cancun and Florida.
