Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh, has announced the aquisition of a new fleet of BMW 5 Series and 7 Series limousines for guests as part of the hotel’s ongoing upgrading project.
The new cars, which will enter service by the end of May, will replace the existing fleet of cars, offering guests a luxurious mode of transport around the city or to and from the airport.
First opened in 1929, the heritage hotel is one of just two luxury properties in the Cambodian capital that pre-date the Khmer Rouge era, the other being the hotel’s sister property, the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor, Siem Reap. Last year, the hotel completed an extensive refurbishment project that enhanced its lobby, event spaces, rooms and suites while maintaining the hotel’s legacy that has always incorporated both French colonial and Khmer-style décor.
The most important outcomes of the renovation include the addition of two new Balcony Suites overlooking the gardens, while all the rooms have been upgraded with new technology offerings, such as iPod docking stations and a media panel. Furthermore, the whole property now has wifi internet access, which is a welcome change as only cabled internet connection was available in guest rooms in the past. The meeting spaces have also been fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities.
