According to industry website airlineroute.net, American Airlines and Hainan Airlines codeshare agreement will begin on March 26.
As previously reported (see story here), the deal applies to transpacific routes between China and the US as well as domestic routes within both countries.
Initially, American Airlines’ “AA” code will appear on domestic Hainan Airlines flights between Beijing and Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Haikou, Hangzhou and Kunming as well as flights to and from Seattle and Urumqi.
A specific timeline for when the codeshare agreement will be expanded has not yet been revealed.
This announcement comes closely behind Hainan Airlines’ codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways (see story here), which places the carrier’s “HU” code on Etihad operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
