Thompson Hotels to unveil London property in January

12 Dec 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Thompson Hotel’s first London property is set to open in January, and will feature a restaurant and bar by English chef Mark Hix.

Belgraves, a Thompson Hotel is housed within the former Sheraton Belgravia on Chesham Place, and is due to open in January, with 85 guestrooms featuring “bold interior architecture and design, and an attention to privacy, blending traditional British hospitality with Thompson’s American bohemian attitude”.

It’s the first property by luxury group Thompson Hotels outside of North America, and among the highlights will be the 80-seat Hix Belgravia restaurant, and Mark’s Bar, both by English chef Mark Hix.

The interiors of the hotel, restaurant and bar have all been designed by Tara Bernerd, whose previous work includes projects for private members club Raffles in Chelsea, and Marco restaurant by Marco Pierre White at Chelsea Football Club.

Hix said that guests expecting his signature British style should “think again”, as he has “had fun with the menu” and is going “’off piste’”. Mark’s Bar meanwhile will pay homage to Hix’s Soho Bar, and will feature a cigar garden with artwork by British artist Mat Collishaw.
