Etihad Airways has become the largest customer for the stretched fuselage version of the Dreamliner, with a new order for ten B787-9 aircraft adding to its existing order of 31 Dreamliner aircraft.
The carrier will now take delivery of 41 Dreamliners between 2014 and 2019, and has options and purchase rights on a further 25 B787 aircraft.
The B787-9 version of the Boeing Dreamliner can carry up to 300 passengers, and has a range of 8,000 nautical miles. Etihad says that it will initially use the aircraft on routes to cities including Dublin, Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Nagoya, Delhi and Istanbul.
ANA was the launch customer for the B787-8 version of the Dreamliner in October, and Business Traveller was on board the inaugural passenger flight between Tokyo and Hong Kong. For this report click here.
