Vueling to launch Cardiff-Barcelona route

Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling is to fly three-times weekly between Cardiff and Barcelona from next March.

The route will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from March 27, 2012, using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Flights will depart Barcelona on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1050, arriving in Cardiff at 1155, with the return leg leaving the Welsh capital at 1235, arriving in Barcelona at 1535.

On Saturday the flights will depart Barcelona at 1330, arriving in Cardiff at 1435, with the return leg leaving the Welsh capital at 1515, arriving in Barcelona at 1815.

There are currently no direct, nonstop services between Cardiff and the Catalan capital.

Vueling also said there is a “strong possibility that more UK routes will be announced soon”.

The carrier currently operates flights from London Heathrow to La Coruna, Bilbao and Seville, and also offered a service to Vigo this summer.
