Thai to operate Jet Airways 777-300ERs on Madrid route

13 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Thai Airways is to lease two more B777-300ER aircraft from Jet Airways, and will use them to operate its Bangkok-Madrid route from August 1.

The carrier already leases three of Jet’s aircraft, fitted with fully flat beds in business class and suites in first class, and was due to take delivery of two more B777-300ERs from October 25. But this date has now been brought forward to July 26, “in order to enable Thai to improve its competitiveness”.

The aircraft have been leased on a two-year agreement and will operate Thai’s thrice-weekly route between Bangkok and Madrid. The aircraft features eight first class suites, 30 business class seats, and 274 economy class seats. For reviews of the aircraft and seating products (operated by Jet Airways), click here.

Thai Airways is currently in the process of refitting its B747 jumbos with new economy seating and inflight entertainment systems (see online news May 31). The carrier has also started taking delivery of new Airbus A330-300 aircraft (see online news March 28).
