Trump Hotels makes international debut

7 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

The hotel group founded by American tycoon Donald Trump has opened its first property outside the US, a 369-room hotel overlooking Panama Bay.

The sail-shaped Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama joins existing properties in Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and Waikiki, and is the tallest building in Latin America at some 284 metres high.

The hotel is located close to the high-end shopping and nightlife area of Punta Pacifica, and around 45 minutes' drive from Panama City.

Features include 47 suites, a pool deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean, 46,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, a spa, casino and a private beach club on nearby Isla Viveros.

According to the group’s website, a further property is set to open in Toronto this year, with projects in Cap Cana, Dubai, New Orleans and Scotland “coming soon”.

However the Dubai property was officially cancelled by developers Nakheel earlier this year, and it was recently reported that the development of the Scottish hotel has been put on hold, although the adjacent golf course is still due to open next year.
