DoubleTree KL taps social media to promote birthday freebies

DoubleTree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur, is celebrating its first anniversary with giveaways through Facebook and Twitter, reflecting the growing trend of marketing through social media

The major promotion involves 1,000 free room nights and 1,000 complimentary dining vouchers for its signature restaurant, Makan Kitchen. The perks will be awarded by means of a treasure hunt where participants will be asked to search for clues on the hotel’s Facebook page for the mobile DoubleTree’s Birthday Crew that will be singing and dancing around KL (July 15,16, 22 and 23, 2011) and Singapore (July 29 and 30). The special team will be awarding 200 room and dining vouchers at each outing to Facebook fans that answer a simple question correctly. 

“The use of social media promotes direct conversations with our guests,” said Leo Frankel, the hotel’s business development director. “The ‘1st Year Birthday Bash’ provides us with the perfect opportunity to reward our growing loyal fan base on Facebook and Twitter in a fun way.

“This close interactive engagement also helps them to get to know us better. Apart from social media, we have also engaged with traditional media such as print and radio to further reach out to our guests.”

In addition, another 80-plus vouchers will be awarded each week through the hotel’s Twitter and Facebook pages from July 13 to August 5.
