Garuda launches daily flights between Jakarta, Bali and Hong Kong

20 Jun 2011

Garuda Indonesia is launching two daily flights to Hong Kong from Jakarta and Bali.

The carrier will fly twice a day between its base and Hong Kong, using a Boeing B737-800 and new Airbus A330-200. The morning flight departs Jakarta at 0955 and arrives in Hong Kong at 1555. Its return leg takes off at 1655 to arrive back in the Indonesian capital at 2055. The evening flight departs at 1700 to reach Hong Kong at 2300. It takes off at 0900 the following day to return to Jakarta, with arrival time set for 1300.

The daily Bali-Hong Kong service, on the new B737-800 ‘Next Generation’ aircraft, departs Denpasar at 1000 and arrives in Hong Kong at 1445. It leaves Chek Lap Kok at 1545 to return to Bali, arriving at 2035.

These new flights are part of Garuda Indonesia’s five-year revitalisation programme, which began last year to upgrade its services, network and fleet. After redesigning their logo and livery in 2010, Garuda rolled out new flatbed business class seats with a 74-inch pitch.

The carrier is now geared to expand its aircraft fleet from 87 to 153 by 2015. So far, it has taken delivery of 50 B737-800 ‘Next Generation’ and 24 A330-200 aircraft. The carrier will take another nine B737-800s this year and in 2013, 10 B777-300ERs.
