Hong Kong Airlines is making it mandatory for its cabin crew to take kung fu lessons as a precautionary measure to deal with unruly passengers. They will undergo training in wing chun – a form of the popular martial arts used in close-range combat.
This move is being adopted, following reports of an average of three incidents weekly involving disruptive passengers, said Eva Chan, the carrier’s deputy general manager of corporate communications.
While it is compulsory for all cabin crew to learn pick up kung fu techniques, their colleagues on the ground have also been invited to join the classes.
