Hot on the heels of the news that Emirates is to offer three-times daily flights at Manchester, the carrier has also announced it will double its Cape Town service to a twice-daily operation from March 27.

The new flights will depart Dubai at 0350, landing in Cape Town at 1140, with the return leg leaving the South African city at 1340 and arriving back in Dubai at 0115 the following day.

The new service will be operated by three-class A340-500 aircraft, and adds to existing daily flights departing Dubai at 0850 and Cape Town at 1810, served by B777-300ER aircraft.

From March 27 Emirates will offer a total of 42 weekly services to South Africa, split across routes to Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

The news follows yesterday’s announcement that Emirates is to increase services at Manchester to three-times daily from May 1 (see online news March 9).
