ANA to use A320s for low-cost carrier

15 Feb 2011 by Mark Caswell

ANA has leased ten A320 aircraft configured for 180 passengers in an economy-only layout, to be used for the launch of its low-cost subsidiary A&F Aviation.

The aircraft have been leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), ahead of the launch of A&F Aviation flights from Kansai International airport later this year.

The new airline has been jointly established by ANA and First Eastern Investment Group, with domestic routes set to launch in November, followed by international services (see online news February 9).

Rival carrier Japan Airlines operates low-cost services under the JAL Express brand, using Boeing 737 aircraft flying out of its main hub at Osaka International airport, located around 40km from Kansai International airport.
