THAI Airways waxes nostalgic on May 1, 2010, mounting a special flight that relives its maiden international service from Bangkok to Hongkong. This is part of a series of activities to mark the airline’s 50th anniversary this year (see news).
To get into the spirit, a Boeing B747-400 has been painted in the original livery seen on the DC-6B aircraft used by the carrier in its early years of operation. The cabin crew will also help enhance the mood and dress in the uniforms of those early days.
The flight departs from Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 1430 on May 1, and passengers will experience special anniversary ceremonies upon landing.
A three-day package is offered by THAI's Royal Orchid Holidays for travellers from Bangkok who want to join this one-off experience. The itinerary includes a big celebration party hosted by the airline on the night the group arrives and sightseeing around Hongkong.
