Continental Airlines is to increase the number of flights between London and New York, and says that all aircraft serving Heathrow will feature its new fully flat business class offering from June.
The carrier will add a fourth daily flight on March 27, followed by a fifth on October 30 – for details of the schedules see below. The new services will take Continental’s daily offering out of Heathrow to seven flights, including its twice-daily service to Houston.
Continental also says that from June 1 all aircraft scheduled for Heathrow flights will feature its new fully flat bed in Business First. The new seat was unveiled late last year (see online news November 17, 2009), and features a six foot six-inch bed in a herringbone-like layout, with AVOD in-flight entertainment and iPod connectivity.
“New York-Heathrow is a flagship route for Continental. As the leading airline in the New York market, we are excited about introducing these schedule and product improvements for our New York-London travellers,” said Jeff Smisek, the airline’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
“All our New York-London customers will benefit from more flight options, while those traveling to London in BusinessFirst – whether from New York or Houston — will be assured of a flat bed seat whenever they choose to fly with us.”
