The InterContinental chain has responded to meeting planners’
constant clamour for customised service, rolling out InterContinental
InterContinental Hotel Hong Kong is the first property
to offer the branded product online, which will be adopted shortly by other sister properties around the world.
Enhanced use of technology
distinguishes InterContinental Meetings, said Marita Marcos, director
of marketing, InterContinental Hotel Hong Kong. “From our studies, meeting
planners were telling us they wanted more web-based tools to help
(decide on venues).” These have been granted in the form of fully
interactive floor plans and virtual tours.
Said Marcos: “It’s now become so seamless a process to plan an event.”
Known for its emphasis on
“being in the know”, the group has also added the “Insider Experiences”
dimension that is intended to create inspired gatherings.
Marcos explained: “We don’t want the delegates to just come and meet and go
away. We want their visit to be memorable like doing something for the
community – we give them options.”

provides access to an exclusive mix of authentic Hongkong venues and
experiences offering local flavour such as The Bethanie (a heritage
building), the 75th Floor Apex of Central Plaza to a Chinese junk or yacht
cruise around Victoria Harbour.
• Insider Speakers who are fonts of knowledge and insight about Hongkong like a feng shui master who can point out notable buildings that reflect the principles of geomancy.
• Insider Community that puts participants in touch with community-based groups and projects like the hotel’s partner Po Leung Kuk who care for the needy young.
• Insider Interactions incorporates teambuilding activities such as tai chi or dim sum/noodle making classes into the main programme to inject fun in a learning session.
• Insider Breaks themes breather sessions in between meetings and workshops as having either cultural or healthy orientation.
According to Marcos, those booking for social events like weddings and special banquets will also find the new product very useful.
