Media and financial hub prepares for January 2010 opening of Swire Hotels’ latest: EAST
Quarry Bay, Hongkong’s media and financial hub is preparing for the January 2010 opening of Swire Hotel’s latest venture – the appropriately-named EAST.
Located at Island East, one and incorporating a new landmark development by Swire, One Island East, in Quarry Bay, a new home to over 300 multinationals including some of the most prestigious Fortune 500 corporations, the hotel will be adjacent to Tai Koo MTR station a short drive away from Central and Causeway Bay.
EAST is promised to be a “lifestyle business hotel created for business travellers looking for a relaxed, convenient and contemporary environment”. It features services such as a paperless front-desk which means guests need only check-in on their first visit, and use express check-in and pre-registration prior to arrival thereafter.
The new general manager of EAST - Warren Tam – is a Swiss hotel school graduate and veteran hotelier who has worked previously with Hyatt International and Inter-continental.
EAST will be Swire Hotels' third hotel. The Opposite House opened in Beijing in 2008 and The Upper House opens at Pacific Place in Admiralty, Hong Kong in October 2009. Other planned hotels include a future a 90-room hotel at TaiKoo Hui in Guangzhou. In the United Kingdom, Swire Hotels is developing a collection of stylish boutique hotels in interesting English towns and cities to be launched in 2010.
