Travelodge announces 1,443 new rooms

18 Mar 2009 by BusinessTraveller

Budget hotel chain Travelodge has announced it will add 12 new hotels throughout the UK, including a 279-room property in London’s Waterloo area.

The announcement includes three other hotels in London (Twickenham, Penge and Whetstone), and two in Surrey (Egham and Epsom), as well as further properties in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Northampton, Rugby and Salford Quays. Travelodge puts the total investment at £77 million, with 575 rooms being added in the London area alone.

The Waterloo property is due to open in autumn 2010, and will be located in a converted office block on Waterloo Road, an area which is becoming increasing popular for hotel developments. Spanish chain H10 will also open a four-star property on Waterloo Road next year, and a Hampton by Hilton hotel is also proposed for the same road.
