Rezidor expands Antwerp presence

7 Nov 2008 by Mark Caswell

Rezidor has confirmed it will open two Antwerp hotels in December.

The hotel group will manage the Radisson SAS Astrid Hotel, currently the Park Plaza Astrid Antwerp, and the Park Inn Antwerpen Astrid – both located on Astrid Square.

The hotels, a Rezidor and Elbit Imaging collaboration, will join Radisson’s other Antwerp-based property, the nearby Radisson SAS Park Lane Hotel. All three hotels are located around 10km from Antwerp International airport, in the heart of the city’s diamond district.

The 247-room Radisson Astrid is situated opposite Central Station. Business Class rooms, suites and the 19 luxury apartments all come with flatscreen TVs and a complimentary Super Breakfast Buffet at the Windows restaurant. Apartment guests will have access to a private lounge area. The Square Brasserie and Terrace serves international cuisine and has a royal brunch buffet on Sundays.

The Scala ballroom will be 589sqm and can seat 600, or be turned into four smaller rooms. A separate conferencing floor will hold some of the hotel’s 18 meeting rooms.

One unusual highlight on the premises is Antwerp’s “Aquatopia oceanarium”, home to over 10,000 exotic fish and reptiles, which is open daily. The Radisson Astrid will also have a fitness centre and private parking.

The Park Inn Antwerpen Astrid is currently undergoing renovations and will open with 59 rooms, a breakfast restaurant, lounge and fitness room.
