Qatar to fly Doha-Houston non-stop

5 Mar 2008 by Mark Caswell

Connections between the Gulf and the US will get even better from November 10 when Qatar Airways launches non-stop flights to Houston, Texas.

The new thrice-weekly service from Doha will compete with rival Emirates’ daily service out of Dubai. Flights will be operated by a special long range version of the B777. Qatar will have a two-class (business and economy) configuration with six across (2-2-2) seating in business and nine across (3-3-3) in economy class. Flight length will be 16 hours 55 minutes westbound and 14 hours 55 minutes eastbound.

Although the new service has yet to be officially announced, flight schedules are already displayed in some of the main booking systems.

Flight QR77 will depart Doha every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 0120, arriving in Houston the same morning at 0915. Return flight QR78 will leave Houston the same day at 1215 and will land back in Doha the following lunchtime at 1210.

Qatar will be unveiling a new generation of first and business class accommodation this summer, although it is not clear whether or not the new seating will be available on this route.
