Fans of SIA will soon find it easier to secure a seat between Singapore and Sydney, a sector where flights run full as a matter of routine.
From April 8, SIA will be adding a much-needed fourth daily flight to the Australian destination. Initially it will operate four times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday) but frequency will move to daily from June 1.
Flights will be operated by SIA’s moderately new B777-300ERs, which are fitted with the carrier’s latest premium seating.
There will be a number of connecting possibilities at Singapore but these don’t include Heathrow or Manchester, so overall the new flights’ timings are geared to the needs of passengers starting or ending their journeys in Singapore.
Flight SQ233 will depart Singapore at 0700, arriving into Sydney at 1620. Return service SQ234 departs at 1735, to reach Singapore late evening at 2350.
Meanwhile, an SIA spokesman says the carrier will shortly take delivery of its second A380 superjumbo, which will enable the carrier – assuming all goes according to plan – to introduce it on the Singapore-Heathrow route in early March.
The intention is for the A380 to operate overnight-flight SQ322 out of Singapore (departing 2320 and arriving at 0525 the next day), and a return service SQ317 from Heathrow the following morning (departing 1100 and arriving at 0740 the next day).
