Rumours suggest the success of this LHR-LAS route could justify a 747 for the High Season in August/September.

Currently a three class 777 is used mostly with http://www.newclubworld.com. WT+ and WT.

As all BA 747s have First, this would be an interesting development….perhaps either causing BA to either sell First seats, or more intriguingly upgrade those on fully flex tix or Gold Card holders to F, as Qantas do on some routes where F isn’t actually sold.

BA has now announced a Gatwick-Las Vegas route to complement its existing Heathrow service. More details here:

I am not sure if anyone saw this coming! Really gunning for VS I reckon. I think a few of us here would have liked to have seen some brand new destinations, for example Fort Lauderdale, Colomo, Seychelles or even Phuket or a more business route.

Well, I can claim some prolepsis here, though having said that it’s probably healed up after all this time.

Good to see this route has finally come to fruition, though the timings and frequency aren’t ideal.

This is great news for Gatwick, and demonstrates the success of building a route via LHR, but also extending services from LGW for the additional capacity, especially point-to-point leisure travellers for whom Heathrow’s network isn’t an advantage.

Vegas is relatively “businessy”, with plenty of conferences, and a handy place to spend a weekend before flying back after meetings in LA..

Finally, there’s more certainty and less expense increasing capacity on existing routes, which is probably why a totally new route hasn’t been established.

Good to see Harry living it up at http://www.wynnlasvegas.com – I’m not sure how he’s flying home, though. Possibly a Virgin flight, or maybe he’s using a chum’s PJ.
