    BA cancels many short-haul flights today…EasyJet doesn’t!!

BA operates out of a very tightly slot controlled primary hub. Someone farts in the direction of the airfield and airlines start taking hits to their schedule. Being the largest carrier, BA will take proportionately more of a hit at LHR.

Clearly Easy has a lot more slack…..and doesn’t operate out of a foggy LHR.

Currently in my 4hr of waiting at T5 following my short-haul canx today. EZY doesn’t fly from here so I don’t know where you’re comparing BA’s chaos to (LTN?) but the fog cleared mid-morning. A check-in and general IT failure at BA caused the bulk of the canx flights (evidenced first hand by the 75 min delay for a check-in Gold supervisor to reach a ticketing agent) – this is still ongoing. Presumably their claims of fog are to avoid EU261, as per their standard policy.
