In December 2023, Austrian Airlines opened the newly designed and renovated HON, Senator and Business Class lounges in the Schengen terminal. Supposedly, the lounge design shall match the promising new Lufthansa Allegris concept. The new design is shocking, lighting which makes you feel uncomfortable and gives you the feeling to wanting to spend less time in the lounge. The design is based on natural wood and the design is very reduced which makes the lounge feel poor and cold. The wooden partitions resemble the shape of prison bars. How can such a cold and poor design match a presentation of the fantastic Allegris concept? Big question will be if the Lufthansa Group will manage the upgrade by introducing Allegris or if the Group will further push the concept of a low cost airline. What are your experiences here?

May be this is a cunning plan to reduce F&B costs?

IMHO it sounds like it corresponds to the existing design of Lufthansa’s own lounges. I have always found them to have a ‘clinical chic’ vibe and appear very cold and minimal.
