British based Himalaya Jet looks to be a UK start-up airline focusing on, if the publicity is to be believed Himalaya becoming the premium long-haul operator connecting London and Paris with the Himalayan region – India (Delhi and Mumbai) and Nepal (Kathmandu).

With also a Kathmandu base and plans to expand also to the US and Australia.

It all seemed rather unlikely to me until I read to day that the owners the Gurung Family, were entertained this week by Boeing in Seattle and guided by by Shree Saini (Miss America) and M AC Sherpa (Honorary Consular General of Nepal.
The Gurung Family a seeming influential UK based Nepalese family group own the majority share of this new enterprise and the airline proposes the first flight in September with 2 leased Boeing 787s for the first three years of its operation.

All looks possible if not perhaps likely as Himalaya Jet is one of the very few start up airlines receiving support from ‘Boeing Startup’, which is designed to help start-up carriers.
