What are the transit procedures like at Istanbul Airport? Is an hour enough?

Do you need a visa if remaining airside?

    Is the process fairly painless?

    Have to transit soon?

    Thanks.

I recently transited from ZRH en-route to SHA and found it to be smooth enough and no visa was required if transiting airside. I was flying with TK.

    Binman62,

I have transited through about 10 times going in/out from ARN to misc. Middle-East destinations. The process is pretty fast, keep in mind that security is provided at gates.

If you are flying with TK, the walk from the top of the transfer stairs to the CIP Lounge is about 5min in a brisk pace. Many gates would be a 10-12min stroll from the gate, so you may not make a pit stop.

So yes, 1hr is fine. However, you may not have time to experience much.
