Just to mention a change which is about to take place from 1st September 2010.

By 31 of August every 250 Clubcard Points gives you 600 BA miles

From 1 September 2010, this will be 500 BA Miles for every 250 Clubcard Points.

Yeah great spin in the letter from Tesco announcing the new reduced rate.

Tesco has also significantly reduced the number and value of Clubcard vouchers for extra points on certain products and / or minimum spend, with the Clubcard statement, its Wine Club (nothing to do with BA’s which is Laithwaites) magazine and at the checkout. About the only one unchanged is the 750 points for online wine with the Wine Club magazine, although the minimum qualifying spend has crept up to £120.

Still a good loyalty scheme though. You can also now double dip with Tesco Direct via the BA estore. Tesco Travelstore, powered by lastminute.com, can sometimes be good value for flights and hotels / both and awards Clubcard points. You can double dip with BA cash flights if the price is the same or slightly more than on BA’s site.

Can see where they got the idea for that film!!….

Clearly a cost saving exercise, simular to only getting 100 miles for HIE stays rather than 500 at other locations.

The reduction really makes it more sensible to use the vouchers instore against shopping rather than for BA miles

If you are a Premium BA Miles collector with Tesco, previously you got 800miles per £2.50 voucher; this will drop to 600 miles from 1st September
I seem to have been a Premium Collector for years (it was about how much you spent each month on your Clubcard) but not sure if it is open now to others

Yes, so called Premium customers go from 800 to 600 and others from 600 to 500 so a reduction of 25% for Premium customers and about 16.5%. Interesting way to treat your apparently bigger spending customers. They give the reason as being the double miles promotion but how long will this continue for ?? There are no double miles on petrol, Tesco credit card, extra points, green points etc. so it is not a reason. Just a way of cutting the benefit to BA Miles exchangers vs. cash vouchers where they are doubling. Great way to lose business !
