I think that it’s Oneworld’s month, after the AA/BA/IB agreement and the BA’s expansion to new routes, know the oneworld released a statement about the tentative approval for joint venture between AA/JAL.

Oneworld®, the leading quality airline alliance, has warmly welcomed the decision by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) tentatively to approve the application for anti-trust immunity lodged in February by its member airlines American Airlines and Japan Airlines for their proposed joint business between North America and Asia.

Subject to final approval by the US DOT – which is subject to the completion of the open skies agreement between Japan and the USA – and to the green light from Japan’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Land and Transport American and JAL plan to launch their joint venture in the coming months.

    More about that at:

    Hi Potakas,

The same tentative agreement applies to ANA, Continental and United as well. They submitted just inadvance of the JAL/AA submission.

Its linked to an open skies agreement and also to 4 slots being given to US carriers at Hanada which have been tentatively granted to American, Delta and Hawaiian.

The more access international carriers get to Hanada the more chance they have of challenging the restricted slot times
