FaroFlyerParticipantHi LP,
There were also rumours a few months ago that easyJet may acquire Monarch, or that Monarch’s new owners Greybull Capital may acquire EZY.

There were also rumours that Air Berlin may be acquired by GB. but with Etihad having a stake in Air Berlin this seems less likely.
Interesting gossip for a Friday:-)

Charles-PParticipantI had lunch last week with the CEO of a European private equity group who said that there are a number of LCC airlines being targeted right now. As an investment choice they represent a good bet and the view is that in time all short haul travel globally will follow the LCC business model. It also seems the next big expansion area for airlines is trans-Atlantic LCC with at least two new groups looking at slots and opportunities.

FlightlevelParticipantComments in the FT by easyjet advisors that its unlikely – so thats a yes then? Not surprising, since the EU LCC’S have coped with numerous economic problems and are very successful, and more are arriving into a busy market, unlike the U.S.A. where there’s only one!
