Monarch’s resurrection dreams dashed: setback for British airline relaunch plans
On Times Radio a couple of evenings ago Tim Jeans (former MD of Monarch 1) was interviewed.
He was asked about the possibility of Monarch restarting.
Tim Jeans said that the problem was that, since Monarch 1 had collapses, others had filled the void (left by Monarch 1).
In particular he cited the expansion of Jet2 and Ryanair in the UK market.
And with the cost of living crisis one wonders how healthy the UK leisure market will be in 2024.
The whole idea appears to have been a game, played by those who would like to be an airline CEO. Already applications have been made to Companies House to strike off the ‘new’ Monarch Airlines. The LinkedIn details of the supposed new CEO had a photo of a failed US politician, so we can all rest easy in our beds with the knowledge that, good or bad, Monarch is not returning to the skies
