Does anyone know the exact confirmed date that either Qatar airways or Etihad will be starting service at Birmingham airport uk? They announced something in July 2012 but there has been no news since then?

Not heard anything other than BHX is in there plans for the future. Think the 787 delays may have affected Qatar’s ability to announce this route (and plane delivery delays in general) for both airlines.

Thanks Tim. Yes very frustrating as limited choice for quality airlines out of BHX. Am hoping that the new runway will bring in direct connections to Singapore, China, India, USA and Africa to name a few …. could offer some really convenient direct connections to the larger growing markets.

I wonder when the new runway will open ? Right now BHX can cope only for flights of up to 9 or 10 hrs which rules out Singapore and mainland China.
