For those who did not catch the news this morning, on top of announcing its first overall loss since it was fully privatised 17 years ago ( a loss of A$245m, due to the Qantas International bleeding red ink which QF Domestic and Jetstar remain profitable), Qantas cancelled the bulk of its Boeing 787 order, which was for 35 787-9s due in 2016 which would have been shared between Qantas and its LCC offshoot Jetstar.

Jetstar will still get its 15 787-8s starting in the second half of 2013 and Alan Joyce says Qantas still has the option to buy up to 50 787-9s from 2016, but the firm order for 35 -9s has been cancelled.
