Some of you may have read the piece we posted this morning we the many flight diversions now taking place as airlines seek to avoid affected airspace.

Flights disrupted due to Pakistan air space closure

Note that the situation is fluid.

What we know is that many airlines flying SE Asia to Europe are having to make en route refuelling stops. That will extend journey times and will mean that those travellers who have onward connections may miss them.

For example, SIA’s flight SQ318 which was due to arrive this evening in LHR just after 1900 but it will be delayed by three hours.

Another of SIA’s flights, this time from Singapore to Frankfurt, will now have to call at MUC and it is not certain whether it will arrive in Frankfurt before that airport’s strict curfew starts.

    https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/media-centre/news-alert/?id=jsj2zs2m

No fewer than four B777 flights between SE Asia and Europe are having to stop in Bucharest to refuel. They are two flights with AF, one with KL and one with BA.

Even non-stop Eastbound flights from the USA to India are having to divert. It’s understood that the UA flight had to turn back to London while two AI services diverted to DXB.

What about QF’s non-stop PER-LHR service you might ask ?

Well at present it appears its normal flight path is overwater so will avoid the airspace closure.

Perhaps readers will further information on delays/diversions would post the information on this thread.

    Thank you.

Emirates cancels Pakistan/Afghanistan flights. Via Reuters.

This will cause much disruption for global travellers flying to either destination via the Emirates hub.

Reports coming in that BA 34 KUL-LHR will be making a refuelling stop en route. Possibly ATH.

*I cannot confirm the accuracy of the report* but it appears that baggage priority is being given to premium passengers and Gold Card holders. No cargo onboard either.

Meanwhile BA 10 BKK-LHR will be routing via OTP (Bucharest) and according to BA’s website it will arrive into LHR tonight at 2130 … almost four hours late.

Thanks for posting. I had heard that Europe-bound TG flights were returning to base. But I couldn’t confirm it at the time.
