Grand Union hopeful for Stirling-London approval

Finally after waiting since 2021 rail regulator ORR has approved Grand Union’s Stirling-London service via the WCML.

It’s the first time that incumbent Avanti West Coast will have faced competition (also Virgin Trains which held a WCML monopoly).

I had suspected Grand Union would soon gain approval because recently LNER said it was scrapping its direct Stirling-London service via the ECML. However LNER will will retain its long-standing Inverness-London service via ECML (which stops en route in Stirling).
