I have just come across an oddity and wondered whether anyone can explain it to me! I was using Expedia (UK site) to search for flights to Tehran, where I have to go with some regularity. This has never presented a problem before. But, maybe because it is Independence Day in the US, the system’s response was
“We could not find any airports that match your search for ‘Tehran’. Please enter a new city name, airport name, or airport code”.
On trying the airport code (IKA), a similar response was forthcoming, vis.
“No flights were found between Glasgow (GLA-Glasgow Intl.) and Ikaria Island, Greece (JIK) that matched your request.”
Is this Expedia (an American company) complying with a US boycott of all things Iranian? Incidentally , using Lastminute.com, no similar problems were encountered. Odd…….
Perhaps Expedia don’t get the demand for that destination.
I did a quick test using the ITA Matrix for flights to Tehran and no problems there.
