I have reported several times on this budget train operator which launched London Kings Cross-Edinburgh service a couple of years ago.

Lumo is unlike other UK train firms, its nearest equivalent would be SNCF’s Ouigo, in that it emulates the business plan of low-cost airlines.

Today Scottish media reports that Lumo wants to extend its London-Edinburgh trains to Glasgow/

It makes sense as a) incumbent LNER is axing its Glasgow service via ECML and b) already some savvy London-Glasgow travellers use Lumo via Edinburgh to avoid the issues with Avanti and the WCML.

If the regulator approves services would start in summer 2025.

However regulator ORR is somewhat slow in making decisions.

I mean we have reported several times over the past few years re Grand Union and its wish to operate Stirling-London Euston via the WCML … but ORR has yet to say yes or no.
