In another Forum thread ‘cwoodward’ refers to CX removing a B777 from storage “after 3 years in storage it takes up to 6 weeks per B777 to the point in can re-enter normal service.”

It’s taking longer in the case of LH for its A380s.

Today after 2.5 years in storage its initial A380 has been removed from storage at Teruel (@aeropuertoteruel) and is being flown gear-down to Frankfurt where it will be checked over before being flown to Manila for major checks.

The plan is to enter this A380 into service next March.

It was the same when SIA removed its first A380 from storage at Alice Springs. That A380 also flew gear-down to Sydney where it was checked over by QF.

Gear down means the A380 will fly at a lower altitude and at a lower cruising speed.
