Scottish airline Loganair acts as a lifeline for Shetlanders. It connects them to the outside world.

But now Loganair is rolling back any expansion plans because of performance issues says CCO Luke Lovegrove.

Therefore its intention to run a third weekly flight from Sumburgh to London Heathrow has been suspended – see Online News February 23.

Another route being axed is Exeter to Glasgow which ceases end March.

The above route will be missed by those in the West Country for its convenience.

Exeter-Glasgow by rail is not only expensive but it takes over seven or eight hours and involves at least one en route train change.

Loganair rolls back on new flights as it grapples with poor performance

News of the airline’s wooes comes soon after Loganair operated its final Saab 340 flight which received much media attention.

At the conclusion of this flight, although not mentioned in the publicity, Loganair’s much-praised CEO Jonathan Hinkles announced he was steeping down with immediate effect.

Sadly still missing our way out of Norfolk to Manchester axed because the jet couldn’t pay. I was happy with the prop plane it still only took 25 mins. So KLM still have the strangle hold, seeing such high prices for 20 mins in the air! Manchester has so many more options for US and Asia flights now.
