If I had a tenner for every time the rail companies or Government promised improved or faster services I would have retired years ago.
My guess, it won’t happen and the usual lines about inadequate infrastructure will be trotted out.
Instead we will continue to have services among the most expensive inter city services in Europe with most of the frills (like decent catering) removed.
