In a few weeks I am due to fly from JNB to DUS via AUH. I don’t know the latter airport.

What are your experiences of transferring there?

My experiences of Abu Dhabi are very positive. There is a fair amount of building work going on right now so some bussing between aircraft and terminal but it is done well. There can be a certain amount of chaos if it is during a time when migrant workers from countries like Pakistan are arriving as there are extensive checks on their paperwork / visa etc.

Abu Dhabi Airport Company rolled out a new mobile website earlier in the year, which can provide a range of info. Link to the story here:

    T1 was refurbished last year:

Thanks Stringfellow and BTME for your replies.

I will be flying into and out of T3, so hopefully no bus transfer required.
BTW, is there a smoking room airside as I have exactly 2 hours between flights?

    Best regards

    Simon

Simon. If you’re travelling Etihad First or Business Class, there are smoking rooms in both lounges, both of which are excellent.

I connected thru AUH this past summer, JFK , AUH, DEL on Etihad. Very easy and quick. I did change concourses via inside walkway and did have to go thru connection security. This was painless. If you are in First or Business, great Etihad lounges.
